The NSW Department of Education has recognised Macquarie Community College as a High Performing Provider for Smart and Skilled. The College has been delivering quality vocational education and training for more than 70 years and has been contracted under the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled program since 2015.
This endorsement indicates that we are adopting best practices as outlined in the NSW Quality Framework and have scored highly in student outcomes surveys that measure course completion rates, employment related outcomes and student satisfaction.
In the latest Student Outcomes Survey, Macquarie Community College students reported an improved employment status after training, with 34% of qualification completers employed after training. Of these, 95.1% found the training relevant to their current job and 92.5% received at least one job-related benefit. Macquarie Community College also scored highly with student satisfaction with 91.9% of qualification completers satisfied with the overall quality of their training.
College CEO Theresa Collignon commended the dedicated MCC team;
“From the first time a potential student makes an enquiry to the day they finish their course our team members are committed to making all students feel welcome, supported and respected as they progress along their learning pathways”.
Community Colleges Continually Outperfoming
A Community Colleges Australia Report from Sep 2020 showed how Community Colleges consistently out-perform other sectors in supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged clients.
“On almost all tracked measures of vulnerability and disadvantage, in 2019 NSW community education VET providers significantly over-performed compared to TAFE, private for-profit and other providers, disproportionately catering for students from the state’s most disadvantaged groups and regions.”
Dr Geoff Lee MP, the Minister launching the 2019 report stated that ”Community Colleges play a vital part in the state’s skills, and tap into areas where other providers do not, including people on the margins, who have difficulty engaging with training.”
